The Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León is the third largest university in Mexico and the most important public institution of education with the broadest academic offer in the North East part of the country.
In 2009, it ranked fifth best Mexican university by a survey carried out by the El Universal newspaper.
Currently, approximately 141 thousand students are enrolled at the university where they are educated and taught by 6 thousand 97 faculty members (2 thousand and 909 work full-time). The university houses seven campuses across the state of Nuevo León; University City (Ciudad Universitaria), Health Sciences, Mederos, Marin, Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Sabinas Hidalgo and Linares.
The UANL has 27 research centers filled with where hundreds of researchers (393 are recognized by the Mexican System of Researchers). It has 84 libraries with a collection of 2 million and 238 thousand books.
